Updates on the Library Campaign & Construction Plans

Please click on the Macomb Public Library link for updates and specific details about the construction progress under way thanks to  the $2.4 million Illinois State Grant and the Capital Campaign.    Currently the old Carnegie Library is 85%  complete in its remodeling, the old children’s library has been demolished, and constructing on the addition is in progress.  You can follow construction progress by clicking on http://www.macomb.lib.il.us/construction/ where updated pictures will change.

The  goal of the library is to keep all of the library services as active as possible under challenging circumstances during this construction time.   The Library Annex at 109 E. Jefferson St. is operating as  the adult library and is equipped with a library collection of the  most popular books and media for adults;  plus, it has a bank of computers.   Inter library loan is open and active during the entire construction period.   Currently the children’s library is fully operational in the first floor of the remodeled Carnegie library.

The Library Board is urging the community to have patience with the limited services during this time.   The long-term end results will certainly be worth the temporary inconvenience.
